Directions Magazine Editors Look Back at 2013; Make Predictions for 2014
I like that they brought up the 2013 predictions and talk about them. Tablets not playing a bigger role in mobile GIS is spot on. I am really looking forward to the day that my company adopts the technology, but 2013 was certainly not the year. There is still plenty of confusion and drops in coverage. Maybe 2014? I think indoor location systems and sensor fusion will be big in 2014 as well. Consumer level availability might not be that big, but we will hear plenty about it next year.
The Top Ten GIS Stories of 2013
Of note for me on these are: UASs, MOOCs, and Apple Maps. I think that these are probably the biggest three for me. The government shut down was probably the biggest in the news in terms of total clicks and I even talked about it more than once. But it was shorter term and the general public seemed to bounce back from it despite the apparent attempt by the government to completely cripple small business.
